They are big fixed blade knives with accompanying sheath's and I paid about $200 each all In with tax. They seem nice enough and I don't see any obvious flaws but with all the discussion going on about Bark River I'm wondering if I going to have issues if I try to trade or sell them later. I still have a return window to DLT.

Any recommendations? I like them but if they're going to be problem children I'd like to send them back now.

If you’re worried about the value for selling/trading, I would return them ASAP.

I’d check the clone list out and go from there. realistically though it’s going to be very hard to sell them for a good price on the secondary market with everything that’s happened.

I don’t think their 3v was ever in question. They should be fine.

But sell or trade value…they’re definitely going to tank short term. Hard. There’s a chance long term that the fan boys rally and a few years from now they become more collectible since they obviously are the last of their kind.

I personally would return them if they aren’t meant to be users, mostly to pressure DLT not to continue selling the brand. But that’s a personal choice.

I would just return them to be honest, there’s always going to be people distrustful of the brand, so you could easily take your return money and reinvest it into knives people are dumping off that have not been proven to be bad.

I’m keeping mine only because out of the return window. At 200 bucks for that knife it is kind of a good deal if it is really 3V. Lot of reasons to return it though since with no company you got no warranty and it could have quality issues based on the company’s long history of scamming.

I did see a photo that was circulated on the Bark River Knives Problems facebook that was troubling. Weird breakage.

Just remember that there is “speculative” warranty on it going forward. Yes, supposedly Jim will cover warranty on BR, but can you really trust what any Stewart says? Who knows they may end up in jail for fraud.

For that high of a cost, I would just return when still within the return window just to be safe and buy a different brand. No need to take a preventable risk.

Return it. DLT are great. They’ll understand. If you want you can ask them about alternatives.
    Or get a TRC apocalypse.

  8. How could you trust anything marked on BRK to be legit at this point?

Hey im in the same boat. I got mine and love them. There is no warranty, even if jim says he’s going to do stuff. I would not trust or send my knife to a Stewart. At best Dan Tope may agree to work on these, even for a cost. In terms of selling, hard to say. On one hand everyone is rightfully skeptical. On the other hand, they wont be made anymore and theres a core group of collectors even now.
