Are the Reproduced ATF M3 knives close to the original, and is the build quality good ?

    The picture *looks* like the Ontario M3 reproduction, which is pretty close to the original.

    This is a complicated question, because WW2 era M3s were intended to be made as cheaply and quickly as possible, and “fit and finish” was the lowest priority. The handles and edges were often rough, with the expectation that troops in the field would shape and sharpen their own knives. The blade coating was only really intended to keep rust off until the blade could be issued, and is nowhere near as durable as modern DLC or Cerakote. Like bayonets, they were made as durable as possible but also with the expectation they’d be abused, broken, and discarded in war.
