This was my Great Grandfathers 7” Needham Brothers Bowie Knife. It traveled the world on his hip as a Merchant Marine aboard the S.S. War Hydra.
The knife has a full tang, square ish pommel (pics gladly provided) and either ivory or buffalo horn with mother of pearl inlay.
It was stored in a mismatched sheath from a Marble Knife. How my great grandfather got the sheath I’m unsure. We are Canadian although he did spend time in America so where he bought the blade I can’t be sure. The sheath is cool af as well. I did throw in a few pics of it too.
Mostly I think this is an amazing knife with a cool family story. I’m sure it’s worth a couple of bucks but I just want to take the Veragris? Off which I’m just using a wooden toothpick to remove. The brass pommel was more or less covered. I believe it’s caused by storing the blade in the sheath. It is sharp af already. I will not be sharpening it nor cleaning it other than the green crap.
I hope you folks find this knife as beautiful as I do. If anyone wants other pics let me know.
