just found it at home; it doesn't have a locking system. Does anyone have any idea when it was made?

  1. Twist the metal ring between the blade and handle. I’ve never used an Opinel, but I’m 99% sure that’s how it folds/locks.

    No idea about the date

It’s old and has clearly been well-loved. I’m reasonably sure that the blade wasn’t that shape to begin with but is actually been worn down from years of sharpening. Whoever used that previously clearly took care of it and used it very often.

It’s missing its locking ring, too, which serves as even more evidence of years of use. That’s an awesome find, and it’s an incredible testament to Opinel’s 130 odd years of history.
