Hey everyone. I just picked up a Benchmade 273-03 Mini Adamas from REI and I had a quick question about the lockup.
When I flick the knife open with the thumb stud it sometimes has a tiny bit of vertical play if I shake it hard. But if I pull the AXIS lock back and let it snap forward, the blade locks up completely solid with no play at all.
Side to side is good and the pivot seems fine. The knife is brand new so it hasn’t really been broken in yet.
Is this normal for a new Mini Adamas while things wear in, or is that something you’d exchange for? Just wondering if I should keep cycling it and see if it settles or take it back while I still can.
For what it’s worth I bought it at REI so exchanging it wouldn’t be a big deal if this sounds off.
Any input would be appreciated!

I’m just bought the auto one and had blade play just like that. The stop pin screws were loose. Benchmade told me I had to mail it back so I took them out and cleaned the threads then tightened everything up and good as new.
