I recently picked up a Pepperwool Merino MM and I absolutely love it. It basically disappears when you wear it — super light, great clip, and the action is incredible, and when you release the lock it drops shut with even the slightest bit of gravity.
I’m pretty new to getting deep into knives (I’m mostly a r/flashlight guy), so I’m hoping to get some advice on keeping this thing in great shape.
My goal would be to make it last basically forever and hopefully pass it down to my kid one day if possible.
A few questions for people who know more than me:
- Sharpening:
I posted a picture of the sharpener I’m considering — the Wicked Edge Venture (WE20). Is that a good choice for a knife like this, or would you recommend something else?
- Pivot / bearings:
What oil do you like to use for the pivot and bearings?
- Cleaning:
What do you typically use to clean your knives during maintenance?
Any tips for long-term care would be appreciated. I really want to treat this thing right.
