Need a little help identifying this knife. Bought it years ago from a collector and it’s just sat in storage since.

I might be able to recondition the leather bit and clean the whole thing up a bit. About the sheath, the bottom has little metal protrusions, almost like it's supposed to mechanically lock into something, but I don't get why if it is to hang from a belt? I vaguely remember the collector mentioning Egypt.
