Dad loved this knife, and my memories of Saturday night, sharpshine, we would talk openly as men about topics that would make my life difficult very soon. Sharpen knives and shine our shoes for Sunday Service. One night he hit me with Churchyard Lynching habits of southern evangelicals. How they chose the Sunday service to lynch us so their children can see it. I thought how odd, he laughed and said "no to them we are the odd ones because they need people to hate, we don't". Today I wear his steel with all the pride I have and think of the knowledge he dropped on me in the 1970s. R.I.P. Alexander
