I'm a big fan of the M300 v2 (which Skilhunt recently told me they quietly upgraded to v3 at some point in the past) and looking forward to the v4. Skilhunt has quickly become one of my favorite brands – sort of a cross between Zebralight and more enthusiast brands. They're rugged (many feature their own version of potting), have great UIs, good emitters, efficient drivers that almost always match their lumen and runtime specs and have great accessories. I use their lanyards and headbands on other lights.

The main updates for this v4 appear to be a proximity/heat sensor, a magnet and the UI update that their other v4 lights have. The UI does seem slightly different in that there are 4 main modes (L, M2, M1, H) whereas the other v4s only have 3 main modes.

Note that like (all?) other Skilhunts, this doesn't appear to have any thermal throttling, just timed stepdowns. I think the proximity sensor is mainly to prevent pocket fires.

There are currently two available emitters: their proprietary SF-F50S which is 9580 and very neutral or the SFT70.2 which everyone knows. I'm getting one of each.

My favourite mainstream brand now that Zebra’s are just too expensive in the UK. EC200 gets used every day.
