A preface that I think I'll be looking for recommendations if you guys got any.

March of 2021 I decided to jump from the smaller olight baton to the larger baton 2. A little bit of an edc nerd here, definitely always looking for what works for me the best. I'm a truck driver by trade with a farm background. I use a flashlight all the time for working around machinery as well as general use.

As far as performance goes I have zero complaints. I've never had trouble where reliability is concerned, no failures to the working of the light itself. Still using the original battery it came with, and I haven't noticed an inconvenient drop in battery life. Typically I may charge the light once a week at most. But that's with above average heavy use (at least for me).

The UI is straight forward once you get it, clean and simple. Exactly what I want. From off, 1 click is on. 2 clicks activates the high output mode. 3 clicks activates a strobe. When on, press and hold to switch between 3 brightness settings. That's all she wrote, love it. When I go to concerts or other large venues where a pocket knife isn't allowed, I always appreciate being able to bring a flashlight with a strobe option. Makes the walk back to the parking lot/garage feel a little bit safer.

the size is a little too big for me personally. The light pockets easy enough and is perfectly comfortable while standing and doing miscellaneous things, but if I'm sitting, often times I'll notice it binding around my body which is mildly uncomfortable. Again highly personal comment in that regard, that's just how it works with me and where my pants typically sit. Although it does vary with the pants I'm wearing.

My biggest con lies with the hat/pocket clip. I get why a separate piece was the choice, but I find that it's really easy to bump up against something, like say climbing out of a semi, and that clip grabs, and jumps right off the light. I've almost lost the clip on numerous occasions, and finally recently I did manage to lose the clip it came with. The placement on the light also leaves a bit to be desired. It allows you to use the clip with a hat bill, but due to the length of the light, it doesn't fully seat onto a hat bill. That tends to cause the light to shift easily while working, and even fall off. Depending on where I'm working, that can be a big deal, and I wish it was a little more reliable.

Overall, I'm fairly happy with it, but I don't think I'd replace it with something like the olight baton 4 because of the pocket clip design.

The good: nice and bright. Reliable, with good battery life. The magnet tail cap is a love hate relationship for me, I often wish it was a button, but I fear I'd miss the magnet. This light can and has been dropped way more times than I could count over 5 years and is absolutely fine. She shows some wear in normal areas, but has held up well.

The bad: the pocket clip leaves a lot to be desired. It's mounted on the wrong end of the light to really be fully effective for use with hats. And it's reliability where it can pop off leads to a fair amount of mistrust. Also side button can turn on in my pocket a lot more easily.

Overall, I'll say 7.5/10

Irregardless of budget, if anyone has any ideas for something more like I'm looking for, throw it out there, for now, I'll keep rolling with the olight baton 2 until it dies on me.
