This is what I have in my bag currently. Main variation is that I will swap out the gaming handheld with a kindle, a book, a journal, or nothing depending on my mood and where I'm going.

Vexor Outdoorsman Pepper Spray – it's not bear spray, so it's legal to use for self-defense. I think the tiny little keychain canisters just make you look scared and vulnerable, and after my last run-in, I wanted something that works just as well as a deterrent as it does defense. I work as a photographer, and it's not unusual for me to be walking around alone with like $10,000 in camera equipment, so something that says "I'm unhinged and not worth it" is important.

Passport – purely because I look like a literal goblin in my driver's license photo and don't want to have to show that if possible. Pure vanity, I can't defend it, but it is what it is lol

CAT S22 – honestly a terrible phone, but until something better comes to US markets that runs android but acts like a dumb phone, that's what I'm sticking with.

Pentax 17 – Great little half-frame camera. 72 shots per roll, auto exposure, a surprisingly high quality lens, and because the frame size is so small, zone focusing works fine.

Snowsky Echo Mini – Great and cheap. Punches way above its weight in sound quality, and has a cute little cassette animation when music is playing

Cheap headphones, idk

Car key

Mini notebook mostly for shopping lists

Planner – holds my calendar and stuff. Will size down to something smaller next year because I thought I'd need more space for each day, but I basically just use the calendar sections.

Anbernic RG34XX SP – pixel perfect display for GBA games, controls feel almost identical to the old GBA SP. Sleeps when you close it, starts back up immediately when you wake it. Solid little handheld.

CC cream

You know what that is

Maybelline Superstay
