  1. Now for the obvious questions.

    No, the coating does not effect the readings to any measurable degree.

    Yes the blade is parallel on both sides, measured with Mitutoyo Absolute calipers(yes they are calibrated)

    Yes the values are accurate. An E384 microhardness traverse recently confirmed that the paint coating has no effect on Rockwell hardness.
