Back in March of 2021, my father gifted me a Microtech LUDT, and it has been my constant companion since. A few months ago however, tragedy struck. I lost my LUDT. I scoured my shop, my home, my truck, and called everywhere I had been that day, but had no luck. It may sound silly, but I was devastated to lose that knife. I carried a few of my other knives, like a Kershaw Leek and a Gerber 06 Auto, but they just didn't feel right. I tried finding another gen 1 LUDT, but had no luck. I decided to make lemonade out of lemons and take this as an opportunity to refine my EDC. I went down a deep rabbit hole with Swiss Army Knives, researching which one would be the best for my needs, eventually landing on an Explorer and Rambler combo, but not after spending a fortune on a bunch of other SAKs. I then abandoned Victorinox and picked up a Leatherman ARC and fell in love with it. One handed opening, bit driver, Magnacut blade, it seemed like the perfect addition to my EDC. Over the past few weeks I've modified it slightly, bought a bit kit and ratchet driver, really went all out. After numerous knives and multi tools, my LUDT was just a memory.

Until today.

I just finished hanging new LED shop lights and they revealed that in a previously rather dark corner of my shop where my lathe and polishing machine live, was my LUDT. Somehow, when I was working on the lathe next to it, I must have bumped against the polishing machine and caught the clip of the LUDT on it, and there it stayed for the past few months. I was immediately overjoyed. I called my father, ran to tell my wife, and texted my buddies that I had found my LUDT, as they all graciously humored my mourning and decent in to madness while coping with losing my favorite knife. It is now back in my pocket where it should be, and all seems right in the world.

Not sure why I felt the need to share this story, but I guess if there is moral or something to be learned, always have adequate lighting in your shop.
