I am looking for a hard use folding knife that is 3" or less for about $50 or less.

I want it to be easy and quick to open with one hand. I think I would like to try something with a flipper because my last knife had thumb studs but that isn't a requirement.

Any recommendations?

Kizer, civivi, Vosteed, cold steel. Amazon have great pricing on these brands.

For hard use under 3″ and under $50, I’d look at stuff like the QSP Penguin, Ontario RAT 2, or a Civivi Mini Praxis. All of them have decent heat treat, good ergos, and locks that can handle real work instead of just “box duty.” Blade steel matters less than grind and build quality in this price range, IMO. What kind of tasks are you planning to use it for?
