I work in construction as a structural inspector. I'm trying to check these bolted steel connections, but standing in the shade with the backlit contrast the area is too dark to see well.

I'm looking for a pocket size flashlight with 20~30 ft throw and bright, focused beam (1-2 ft diameter would be ideal). Hoping to spend under $50, and ideally on Amazon with prime shipping to get it this weekend and check the work on Monday.

TIA

  1. A Sofrin SK1 or Wurkkos TD07 are probably your best options that fall within your constraints and might be bright (intense) enough.

Probably safer to get something with a bigger reflector (jacket pocket sized) that is more likely to achieve the needed intensity. Not sure what’s available on Amazon for $50 though.

Sofirn is my light brand of choice when ordering quickly off amazon. Usually in stock and has good options recharge-ability through usbC instead of needing to change batteries.

For this task the IF22A or SK40 would both be good options under $50.

Another useful parameter to shop by may be the battery life if you have to do quite a bit of inspections in a single go

I like my MH10, MH10V2, and Modlite OKW.

I like the MH10 because of the variable brightnesses.

I like the OKW because it throws a beam you can see in sunlight.
