Hey All,

Never usually need to post here for myself as I personally swear by Surefire for my own EDC and weapon lights. However, my GF is in dire need of a keychain sized flashlight because she goes on late night walks, walking to train station/carpark late etc.

I have a spare Surefire G2X which I often lend to her, but she dislikes the size and weight. I was thinking Surefire Titan Plus but here in Australia its ridiculously hard to get and expensive. So, with the following in mind, free for recommendations:

  • Must be USA or European made (no made in China)
  • No bigger or heavier than a Surefire Titan Plus
  • Happy with either AAA or USB-C rechargeable but no niche batteries
  • Ideally over 150 lumen if not 300 lumen/1,000 candela
  • Ideally nothing more complicated than a hi/low switch setting

Kind Regards,

There aren’t really good European alternatives. And I would prefer China lights over clown show country lights right now

The Reylight Pineapple is the best production penlight on the market at the moment and its made in China.

You can probably buy a bespoke bootleg of it made in one of those countries, but you’ll be paying for the lathe work and the functional bits will all be the same/worse.

Plus those functional bits, like switches and LEDs, they usually come from China, too.

And as someone whos been around for a while I’ll confidently say Ray Ye puts out work that is on par or better than the bespoke flashlight makers in the USA. We have a terrible track record when it comes to flashlight makers. We’re an embarrassing bunch of clowns known for running off with people’s money, ghosting customers, posting 75 page manifestos on Covid on our websites, and generally running our businesses into the ground while blaming our customers for our divorces.

As someone who proudly makes stuff in the United States I proudly buy my flashlights from China, because its the work ethic of the person making the thing that matters to me, and people like Hank Wank or Rey Ye put us to shame.
