I have this 30 year old Gerber

So I have this Gerber LMF that I bought 30 years ago. I made the regrettable decision to ditch the original sheath and have a kydex one made for it. As you can see, it creates wear points on the matte finish. Also, the knife is dull and hasn't been sharpened in many years.

I have a vague recollection, which my imagination may have purely invented, that I sent it to Gerber a long time ago to be sharpened and to have those same spots in the finish fixed.

Does Gerber still sharpen knives or touch up the wear spots on it? Can anyone recommend where I can find a true non-marring sheath better than this one?
