Medford bc-1

Well, I wasn’t planning to do this, but screw it, why not? I actually bought this black card knife because of all the hate directed towards Greg Medford. I like the design and find it quite cool. However, it’s incredibly rough, and I can’t help but feel that there’s something wrong with it. I sent Medford knives an email, expressing my concerns about the $1000 knife. I mentioned that the bearings feel like they’re made out of hammered dog shit. Within 20 minutes of sending the email, Greg called me himself. He simply told me that I was doing it wrong, that I needed to oil it, or that it was dirty. A knife has only been out of the box for two days and has only been carried for part of one. I haven’t cut much with it yet. Maybe an orange that probably messed up the bearings anyway. He wanted me to clean the detent track and then go on to explain how frame locks work. I asked him if he had watched the video I had emailed, but he said no. I suggested that I send it again, but he refused. I asked if I could text it to him, but he said he didn’t want to see any videos. He wanted me to clean the knife and then text him back that it was fixed. Well, it’s not fixed. It’s just cleaned. It still feels pretty shitty. It’s crazy to think that with a quarter-inch-thick blade, you can see my hand shaking as I try to push the blade closed with my one finger.
