Had the RMX since September. I think this one was part of the 2nd batch, maybe? Ended up being my main knife carried from September to about early January. Didn't intend that but I enjoyed it so much it did. The short of it is I think they did a fantastic job and I genuinely love it. It is lite, cuts really well, has a nice thin blade which I actually appreciate, very comfortable handle for my hand and, without exaggerating, very possibly the most solid lock up of any knife I own.

I've used it to cut wood for bushcrafty stuff, cut food, cardboard of various kinds of course, plastic banding and ties, zip ties, ropes, harness material, and just about anything I could get my hands on. Now to be clear, I just treated it as a normal pocket knife in that regard. I didn't do any sort of like extreme durability tests, just carried and used it very regularly even when I didn't absolutely have to. I have become a huge fan of this magnesium handle. I found it worked perfectly for what they advertised.

I left it manual and while it was a small adjustment getting used to the button lock with no thumb stud, now it's completely normal.

This one is M390 and they did a great job choosing the heat treat. Not that it's revolutionary or different but they nailed the processing to get the most out of this steel.

The factory edge was great and while I have done some maintenance sharpening with Spyderco stones, I haven't actually taken this to a full on resharpening, though it's definitely time to now.

The two elements I was not a fan of are the bead blast blade finish and the choil. I don't like bead blast in pretty much any capacity and it just ruins corrosion resistance of even steels like this. In fairness I get how it does help decrease costs and it gave the knife a consistent look. The other thing I didn't love is the choil but it works well if you like those choils. They didn't do anything wrong on it, I just generally prefer to have more cutting edge

Is that rust or just cardboard residue.

I don’t think MagnaCut in particular likes these finishes. McNees also has issues with this and it’s a very similar finish in his MagnaCut blades.
