I’ve wanted a Randall knife for a really long time. Whilst my attention has long been with the bigger bowie designs, I recently decided that if I were to get one I’d for a very versatile, smaller design – the kind of thing that the average person would look at and think, “that’s just a knife”.

The advantage of that kind of thing is that I’ll actually get to use it and enjoy it, as opposed to something like a Smithsonian Bowie, which would only come out once a year for a long hunting trip.

To me, the Model 28 is absolutely perfect as a design for the supremely versatile “that’s just a knife” category.

Here, it’s in black micarta with a silver-nickel alloy guard.

Absolutely comfortable in just about every position. It’s a knife that just wants to be used.
