Ok, full disclosure this came like a week ago but I didn’t get around to posting until now. Anyway… about the only hole in my flashlight toolbox was a “wow” thrower, so I picked up a 3x21D. “Wow” is certainly apt; it covers distance like it’s not even there. It’s very impressive.

Since this is my first proper thrower, I have a question. I know at very close ranges you can see the “shadow” of the emitter in the hotspot (see second image), but is it normal to make it out at intermediate ranges with a thrower like this? I’ve taken it out a few times now and at 50-100 m, I still can make out a dimmer area in the middle of the hotspot. Is that normal, or a sign the reflector is slightly misaligned? Considering the throw I doubt it’s the latter but figured I’d check with those who know better. Thanks!
