It was my grandfather’s, and I’m just kinda curious about it. I don’t know jack about knives though

    Looks like a privately purchased German ww1 kampfmesser or combat knife with “mein lebensretter” or “my lifesaver” inscribed on the blade. Very nice knife.
    Drgm means “Deutsches Reichsgebrauchsmuster” used on a lot of ww1 german tools.
    The handle is hirshorn (deerhorn). Carbon C75 steel from Solingen made by Herder. Maybe you can ask Herder knives if they know anything about it. They still make knives.
