Unlike other scout knives, it doesn’t have the scout seal. I was wondering about cleaning it. I know with some collectibles you don’t want to damage the patina so I’m not planning on polishing it. I want to get the grime off it. The construction quality is really impressive. Despite its age the springs are still very tight and the blades are very solid with no wiggles.

Warm soapy water and a sponge scrub won’t hurt anything. If it’s patina, it’ll stay. If it’s grime, it’ll come off.
Just make sure you dry it well and oil it afterwards.
I will say, looking at the photo – there seems to be some rust too. In the nail nicks. Near the pivot on the small blade.

I love this style of knife and have a couple myself! Something so old school and iconic is always nice to have.
