One of my favorite flashlight accessories isa fiber optic extender made to slide onto a MagLite 2 x AA battery light.
It's absolutely amazing for getting light into tight spaces without blocking your view. It's one of those things I use a few times a year but when I do it's priceless.
The hood is about 26mm in interior diameter and the flashlight I currently use it with is an old Anker LC40 whose end is about 28mm. It's a snug fit and works well but the Anker LC40 is from before I discovered this place 🙂 so it's nothing special. Not rechargeable, not especially bright.
I'd love any recommendation for a better light to work with this little marvel. Main criteria are:
- end about the size of a MagLite 2 x AA, about 26~28mm or about 1 to 1.2 inches.
- Throwy not floody since there's no internal reflection in the hood. It transmits whatever light happens to land on the ~3mm tube in the center
- Not very hot since the hood fits snugly and there's no place to dissipate heat. This was less of a concern back in the AA Maglite days.
- Bonus if USB-C rechargeable
Would love any recommendations you think might work well. If you're interested in one of these for yourself they still show up on ebay pretty regularly!
