Found this at an antique store a while back, have no idea how old it is. There was the slightest etching of "US Government" written on the blade, but it's no longer visible after I scoured the surface rust off?? Boy Scouts? Military? Any ideas?

It is the “civilian” Scout knife, unless it had or has a Boy Scout emblem on it. Scout is the name of the traditional pattern (like Stockman or Trapper)

They made one with metal covers for the military, and it was called the Demo knife.

They put the Boy Scout emblem on it, and it was the Official Boy Scout knife for many decades.

Looks just like the Boy Scout knives I had in the 70’s except the scales were blue.
