I’m planning to buy my first flashlight, and after going down the rabbit hole I ended up thinking the FireFlies E04 Surge might be the best option. Before I pull the trigger, can anyone talk me out of this light?

I’m looking for a true all-rounder EDC flashlight that can pretty much do everything. Runtime is an important factor for me, but I’m open to any recommendations or alternatives you think I should consider.

As long as you’re talking about the boost driver version, I can’t think of a good reason. I love mine.

I absolutely love mine. But it is kinda big for an EDC light.
Try the XQ4 instead .smaller head diameter.

But if you really want it. Get it. I love mine. It amazing for outdoors.

  3. I recommend FireFlies E04 with Lume X1 driver and SFT40 3000K hi cri LEDs.
This configuration in not presented on the site, but you can write them on chat. They will be glad to help.

The surge with SFT40 3000K emitters is my number one light that I grab taking the dog out or doing something outside after dark. With the driver the battery lasts for so long. The high cri beam is perfect for upclose stuff and reaches out just far enough that I can see things at medium distance great without looking like im trying to signal batman from my back yard.

The one thing I have to say though it is pretty bulky for an EDC light. Able to be put in a pocket for short periods of time  but not casually carried around for extended periods.  If you want something like that you might want to look at the X4 OR X4Q or X1Q (although i don’t have personal experience with this light). They still have the benefits of runtime and emitter choice without the size.

It’s not really pocketable. A 14500 light or zebralight sc65c 18650 is the largest imo.
