I’m looking to purchase a a pocket knife for my mentor who’s retiring. I’d like for the knife to be under $250 and be personalizable. Not knowing anything about knives, here’s where my research has brought me:

– buck 110 auto knife: https://www.buckknives.com/product/110-auto-knife/?sku=0110BRSA-B

– benchmade bugout: https://www.benchmade.com/products/535fe-05

The former costs $238 and the latter $225. Both prices after engraving.

From my research, people tend to think benchmade is severely overpriced. I don’t know about buck. I’m leaning towards buck, but don’t know if the price is justified.

Would really appreciate some guidance and potential suggestions on alternatives if neither are suitable.

Thanks!

A nice Swiss Army knife. Maybe in Alox? Or a Deluxe Tinkerer? You can get them in many different colors.

I would look into a Buck 791 Range Elite. Better than a bugout and its in Magnacut steel which is tougher.

The buck 110 is a beautiful looking knife. Not so much the bugout
