She's my daily driver, but I currently live in a rainy, high humidity climate (the Pacific Northwest). I woke in forestry, and spend a lot of time out camping, I love how effective the Rat 1 is out in the field. However, I'm not often able to keep it dry enough especially if I'm out in the field and it's pouring.

Would it make sense to upgrade my knife? Maybe get the Rat 1 in S35VN? Am I overthinking it, and D2 is good enough? Not particularly looking to expand my collection, and I am attached to my edc partner.

I did get a Rat 3 for my fixed boade but was pretty pissed off with the blade I got (it didn't even have a pointed tip, I had to sharpen one in myself) and am looking to upgrade to an ESEE 3 eventually. Kind of wondering about the quality control in an Rat 1 in S35VN. I do love the size and blade geometry of the Rat 1 though, and just how comfortable it is to use, so while I've been thinking of going with maybe a Spyderco, I've been resisting making that change.

It’s just light surface rust. Buy some Ballistol and coat your blade in it. It will remove surface rust as well as prevent future corrosion.
