So probably a stupid question but i'm curious, why on Spydercos website the knife is priced at $241 but then on authorised websites that sell the knife it's mainly listed for $180 i mean that's a $60 price difference.

I'm from the uk so for me its listed at ยฃ170-ยฃ200 (British websites) and that's only a ยฃ30 price difference I know that converts to $231-$272 but i'm not talking about my prices just the Americans.

Just don't understand the $60 price gap.

Stupid question with probably a simple answere๐Ÿ˜‚

Because dealers are Spydeco’s actual customers and they don’t want to undercut them. That’s why MAP pricing exists

They just list at MSRP and dealers price at MAP (75% of MSRP)

Most manufacturers have two prices set:

    1) MSRP, or Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price: this the price that you’ll see on Spyderco’s site, but is otherwise largely irrelevant.

    2) MAP, or Minimum Advertised Price: This is the price that Spyderco tells retailers is the lowest they’re allowed to advertise their products at (unless there’s a sale, which also requires Spyderco’s approval). Any seller who tries to go lower than the MAP set by Spyderco risks having their future access to Spyderco’s products cut off.

This scheme is pretty ubiquitous among knife manufacturers at this point, all the big players do it.

If it makes you feel any better, the same knife here in SA from local stockists will cost me $300 at current exchange rate.
