I am getting into edc knives and am between these 2 as my first real everyday knife. Which would you guys go with? I have a cheap spider o but bench made look super nice too. Thanks
The Spyderco is going to long out perform it. The PM2 is what you want. It’s mind blowing the ability this knife has. Way more comfortable. I would go Spyderco and then when you can grab a RGT v2 for it. Literally makes it the best user of all time. The most hand melting knife ever

This is a tough choice, these knives are both legendary.

What are your EDC requirements?
Mini Freek is small, blocky, and clunky in my opinion as an EDC. If you need a blade that can EDC and do small office tasks, light-mid camping tasks, random use and a smaller profile, the Mini Adamas is my preference.
The Spyderco will take up more pocket space, but the choil and blade thickness will have more dexterity and sliceyness
A Para 3 might be exactly what you want, if you don’t have a specific EDC task you are trying to perform. My first +$100 knife was a S30 Para3 that I still do carry. It gets some sort of upgrade/swap about once a year. The only thing left original is the blade itself.
***EDITING: Carried a Kershaw Cryo 2 for a year without misplacing it before committing to the Para 3.

The Freek will be more durable and Benchmade has better warranty than Spyderco. I’ve had a couple PM2s and I like them quite a bit. Sadly the tip on the PM2 is not strong at all. If you intend to use it for hard use that tip is going to eventually snap off and will need a regrind.

What’s your use case? Cutting boxes in the office and at home? Are you out in the wilderness? Your needs identify the best fit. If you need robustness, PM2, if you need smaller more portable. Mini freek.
Me? I would get either, there’s better options from almost every of knife company for half as much.

If you’re looking for a “good” first knife I’d recommend a Kershaw Belair,Hogue deka, or maybe a Benchmade Osborne.

If you’re just getting into edc knives, how are your sharpening skills? The Spy27 will be a lot easier to maintain than the s90v. Depending on how hard you use, aware of what your cutting ect, if the s90v chips, you’ll have to work it out. Where a rolled edge in Spy27 is easier to bring back. More handle on the PM2 if you have larger hands. I have both, love both, but for a new user I would go PM2 for a variety of reasons. More aftermarket upgrades if you want to customize. No omega springs, (though I’ve yet to have one break). Compression lock can be easier to take apart and reassemble, depending on your mechanical aptitude. Plus, I prefer Spyderco over other brands, so there’s that.

Definitely the PM2 I don’t know what steel that model has but I’d recommend S30v over SPY27
