This is my streamlined version of the 10 C’s of survival. This pack lives in my truck unless it’s out in the woods with me. I keep a few electrolytes, a freeze dried meal, and a pair of socks in it as well, but as far as the gear is concerned:
- Cutting Tool: Morakniv Garberg
- Combustion: 1/2 Ferro Rod
- Container: Grayl Geopress Titanium
- Cordage: 550 Paracord
- Cover: Arcturus Poncho Tarp
- Candling Device: Petzl Aria 2 Headlamp
- Cotton Cloth: 100% Cotton Shemagh
- Compass: Suunto MC2
- Cargo Tape: Gorilla Tape on Ferro Rod
- Canvas Needle: Needle taped behind sheath.
I include an 11th ”C” that I call “communication,” which are ways to visually and audibly signal for aid. The headlamp has a strobe feature. The mirror on the compass can be used as a signal mirror, and attached to the compass is a Fox40 whistle.
