I posted a little while ago about a silicone knife handle that was deteriorating. Here is what I chose to do to fix it.

My friend had some large shrink tube that is used for fishing poles. I put a piece of it over the knife handle, used a heat gun to shrink it, and trimmed the excess with an exacto blade. I think it will work well and I like the texture for grip control. my only concerns are water or other liquids getting under it and creating something unsanitary (it's a kitchen knife) and the fact that it was hard to trim the edges perfectly clean. I guess we'll see how it holds up over time. worst case scenario is it doesn't last long and I'm back to square one.
