As far as I know I can't buy something similar with a Nichia 519A and Anduril, so for $20 I picked up a couple of these for the car. But I'm not gonna lie . . . what I've learned here has spoiled me. 😉

On the clever feature side though, I do admire that the light is in "demo" mode. The one on the left has a hole in the package to allow you to press the single on/off button. When you do, it cycles through the various settings and then back to OFF. To exit Demo mode you hold form off for 10 seconds or so. Probably prevents a lot of dead batteries and melted packages!

So before I crack these open, any opinion or suggestions of better options for window breaker / seatbelt cutter / general auto emergency flashlight? I'm replacing ones that are AA and/or MicroUSB so I like that these USB-C can be charged with chargers already in our cars.

For $20 or so, you can get an S21E with 519A and Anduril, albeit the 1.0 version.

But for lights you leave in the car, I can’t tell if these are any good but you get 2 multitool flashlights out of it so I think that’s a good enough deal for $20.

I hate the gatekeeping in some of these EDC/Tactical/Gear subs. No one should buy stuff just because someone else likes it or you get few upvotes in reddit. Buy what you can and you may even find some diamonds for cheap.

That said, unless you have import restrictions you could easily buy something with a proper emitter and/or anduril. Just look for sales on the manufacturer websites as they regularly have good stuff for sub $20.
