Vintage Benchmade dagger – seeking info

Found this in the attic at my dad's house. It looks old, has a custom tooled leather sheath, stamped "Benchmade, Jack Barnett Maker" on the back of the sheath. Can't find anything online in terms of history, rarity etc. 12" blade.
