These super-high-wear-resistance steels are very difficult to manufacture. I read Sal claim that they have to discard a very high proportion of Maxamet blades due to warping and they go through a lot more grinding equipment during machining, and I bet REX 121 is even harder to work with.
Now I personally would never pay this much for this knife, but I’m also not in the market for REX 121

Freedom knife shop has the sage 5/sage 5 LW in rex 122 for like half that. If it’s the exotic steel you’re after then I don’t think the button on the 6 is worth spending that much more for
