Comparison of lights new and old
with labeled beamshots. A bit smoky in winter. The explanation got lengthy I was nerding out.
TLDR: These are all great lights/emitters but I prefer the CRI on the 519a for everyday use.

I recently got my first Convoy with a C8+ SFT-42R and it is truly special, it feels like a handheld spotlight. Last night I pulled it out while I was driving on an empty road and it felt like a police spotlight that was brighter than my high beams. I’m quite satisfied with the quality for 30$. I now want to get an S series with a 519a.

I also got a Sofirn SC13 along with an HS42 headlamp. These 3 are the best lights I’ve ever had! Excited for an SC18 on the way as well. Prior to these I only had an unbranded “high powered” zoomer from Amazon for 30$.
Which while being decent pales in comparison to Sofirn and Convoy.

The SFT-42R is an awesome thrower on the C8+. I’m not sure what the possible lumen/candela rating is but would love to know.

The HS42 has an SST-40 spotlight with 3 CSP2323 floods that can run simultaneously or individually. The photo was taken with the combo.

The SC13 has the 519a and my favorite CRI so far. It’s my edc pocket light with insanely impressive power for its size. I ordered the SC18 for the 18650 capacity but am now wishing it had a 519a. Convoy S series here I come.

If you got this far, cheers from a budding enthusiast and thanks to the sub for the recommendations! Happy beaming!
