Saw quite a few posts about this knife recently probably because it’s on sale at knife center. So maybe not that special of a NKD. But I’m excited for this one because the Byrd Meadowlark 2 in the back has been my backpack-knife for days that I forget to put a knife in my pocket.
Every time that happens, I’m frustrated for not bringing a knife. But that quickly goes away as I start using the Meadowlark. I’m surprised every time by how well it cuts and how long Spyderco’s 8Cr holds an edge. The only downside is that the handle is ever so slightly too short. I know there’s the finger choil and it works great when I hold the knife “properly”. But I don’t always make cuts in a direction that I can hold it that way. The Delica’s very slightly longer handle with more gentle curves already feels better in my hand with different grips.
And the S30V steel this one comes in will also hopefully hold an edge much longer than the 8Cr13MoV. Which from my experience Spyderco’s 8Cr already lasts longer than CJRBs AR-RPM9 or weirdly Kizer’s 154CM and AEB-L, and about the same as Vosteeds 14C28N(anecdotal of course, don’t come after me for saying it, I have knives in all of those steels and this is just my experience and opinion). All that is to say that I trust Spyderco’s heat treatment and I’m excited to be using this knife at work.
