I had been wanting to try this technique with a couple of lights that had gotten scratches and wear on them. I really appreciate the advice from this sub. This was very quick and easy to do.
I plan to make a video later when I use it on my red reylight dawn.
I put the pieces in a Mason jar and filled it with warm tap water until they were submerged. Then I added a spoon full of the drain cleaner. It starts working immediately.
I did this outside with safety glasses and gloves. It only takes a couple of minutes. I would definitely recommend using it sparingly and carefully.
