I would clean it up AND use it
The bone handle, cheap mosaic pin, lack of a makers mark, and random damascus pattern point to cheap Pakistan knife. Which would make sense in a knife to abuse at work. Beware of lead contamination.
I have one I got as a gift and it opens all of my mail and Amazon packages, perfect for that.
If it was me I would leave grandpas dirt on it, leave it as is and keep it in a safe place.
Id maybe get a little display box for it and put it in a place you can always see it. Just a thought.
I’d clean it, get a shadow box and mount it, put it on the wall. But I have enough knives that I’d be happy just putting something like this in a display case, I have enough to use
