•ONTARIO RAT2•
I’ve heard a lot about the Ontario Rat series being a legendary budget beast. For those of you who have carried one for a while: how has it held up? Is it still considered a must-have EDC item or are there better modern alternatives now? Would love to hear your experiences!

Best EDC knife in my opinion. Tough, cheap, reliable – also how I describe myself.
It is not the *best* knife one can carry but it is definitely one of the most usable, in term of ergos, blade shape, steel and price.
The RAT 1 was one of the first knives I bought when I left highschool, carried and used it for 7 years before giving it to a friend.
Prices have risen quite a bit since then and I decided to pick up Ganzo’s version instead of buying a new one. Much of the same but with a crossbar lock and 440C steel, still one of my most carried knives for the exact same reasons as the original.
Now you need to get a snaggletooth pocket opener for it, maybe some anodized hardware off Etsy, a deep carry pocket clip to match, and just for shits and giggles throw some g10 or titanium handle scales on it. Then you’ll be cool.
But for realsies, great pocket knife and all most people will ever need, plus you can actually customize it if you’re so inclined
