Hello guys, I’m a Sikh and traditionally we use to carry a 3ft talwar (kirpan). But in modern times with government regulations we have a dagger. The blade isn’t sharp and it’s more ceremonial than functional.
I was wondering if you guys could recommend a similar size or a little bigger blade that is 100% functional. I was thinking about the Buck 119 (2nd picture). Any recommendations would be great.
Thanks.

As much as I recommend Buck, you may want to consider Cold Steel’s fixed blade offerings:

Also: Cold Steel makes three styles of [Talwar](https://www.coldsteel.com/search.php?search_query=talwar) folders, which you could carry unfolded in a suitable (custom) sheath if desired.
I’ve always been fond of [this Ceremonial Knife from TFW](https://www.traditionalfilipinoweapons.com/shop/ceremonial-knife-1/), but it’s pretty big. Built functional but an 11-inch blade is fairly large to carry around day to day.
There are a lot of interesting functional daggers and knives out there if you’re willing to look. As much as I like a lot of the hunting knives made by buck, I don’t know if you want to sign up for the optics of carrying around a knife that’s famous for being [wielded by slasher movie murderers](https://i.imgur.com/thhhrL7.jpeg) for decades as your main ceremonial item.
Something like [a nice dirk](https://todcutler.com/en-us/collections/medieval-daggers-and-large-knives/products/short-brass-and-wood-dirk) or [rondel](https://todcutler.com/en-us/collections/medieval-daggers-and-large-knives/products/14th-century-english-rondel-tc110) might be easier to consistently explain as a religious item. I’m partial to [medieval daggers like this](https://www.arms-n-armor.com/collections/daggers/products/saxon-parrying-dagger), but again, that one’s pretty long.
