Yes, it has VG10 steel which apparently sucks (with no other options), but the blade design, the weight, the thickness (seriously, any thicker than the S1 is basically just pretending to have bigger balls and no benefit on top).
I think the S1x is probably my best fixed blade, if I could only chose one. But I think from now on, I would carry my S1 on trips, because it's 2/3 the weight mainly and can handle everything I did to my S1x.
