After 3 years I had one omega spring break on me (I replaced both). The knife was still useable but the action was obviously worse and less reliable with only one working spring. Replacing the part is easy enough and provides an opportunity to clean everything. Getting it back together is a bit more difficult with fitting the d shaped pivot back through the holes. Regardless, the 940 is my favorite knife so it was a labor of love. Action is smoother than ever. Springs are very stiff now. Reminds me of fresh out the box.

I am interested though, what is a knife similar to this in terms of length and width that doesn’t utilize the axis lock (I.e., no omega springs to break)? The main reason why I love the 940 is that it completely disappears in the pocket. While its blade shape and geometry may not be for everyone, you can’t argue its slim profile.

I use the same red Tupperware lids to hold my knife parts when I take them apart 😂

Hmmm. Artisan Cutlery Sirius? It’s a super thin Ray Laconico design and underrated AF in my opinion.

  3. Zt 0450 is a bit small but they have some others that are probably close
