Hey guys, my wife got me this sweet ESEE 4 for Christmas, purchased new from BladeHQ. I noticed when unboxing it that it has some black spots where the sheath contacts the scales. Is this normal for one of these? I’m going to put this knife through some hard use so it’s not a huge deal, it was just a little surprising.

It’s perfectly normal, the sheath holds by friction, those black spots are the aggressive grip “sanding” the sheath. Eventually you may need to mildly heat up the sheath and squeeze it tight again.
I have this exact same knife and have the exact same spots. I guess the sheath just rubs on the micarta.
