Posted about concerns of k390 rusting a couple weeks ago and people recommended acid washing the blade. So I attempted it. I followed instructions to acid wash with ferric chloride and stonewashed finish.
I was checking every minute and by the 4th minute the steel still looked somewhat shiny so I thought it was doing fine. This is my first time so I didn’t know the steel significantly darkens after wiping (almost flashed black as I wiped). So when I took it out and gave it a wipe at the 5 minute mark it turned way darker than I expected.
Thankfully after shaking the blade with some rocks in soap water it brightened up a little bit. Still darker than I planned but as long as it provides some corrosion resistance I like it.
