My brother bought me a knife a while back. Since then it's been stored in my knife bag, in its sheathe and has gotten some gooey substance on the blade. I'm not sure if it's some glue holding the sheathe together? Whatever it is doesn't want to come off very easy, I finally got 98% off but the blade has a stain in it now.
Is there a way to get the stain out?

Sorry the pictures aren't the clearest, my phone struggled to focus on the blade.

That may be the high quality pakimascus rusting.

If youre new around here, that pattern and the handle pins make me certain that this is a cheap knife with a damascus pattern blade made in pakistan with whatever steel they could find.

These mystery steel can rust, contain lead and other things, so i wouldnt recommend touching food with that blade.

To answer your question, removing the stain might be ln vain, maybe some barkeepers friend or metal polish might help.
