Most modern firearm designs can run 1000 rounds without a fouling related failure and are made of corrosion resistant parts. They get taken out of the safe, taken to the range, and get brought back to the safe. Most of the aforementioned guns could probably never be cleaned and be fine for their entire life.
The obsession with meticulously cleaning guns is a cultural holdover from the days when ammo was corrosive and guns were blued. It’s nothing more than tradition these days.
If I blow the lint out of my carry gun every month or two I’m fine. Back when I carried OWB every day that same frequency was more than enough to keep up with the dirt.
