Just received a brand new Wurkkos TS11 from Amazon, and the front element looks like the photo attached. It looks like it’s taken a bit of an impact.

I noticed this real obvious weird blobby colourful moire/banding pattern coming from the centre of the TIR optic, and then a small chip in the glass on the opposite’ side. It actually has that colourful banding in real life; that is not a camera artifact. It is most visible when viewing at an angle – it is way less visible when looking face-on.

Will this affect use? Is it worth returning/replacing?

Probably won’t affect performance much unless you see an obvious artifact in the beam. Could be many reasons why it happened from production defect to damage during shipping.

If it bothers you, you can contact the seller and see if they will ship you a new tir or new light. Remember to use gloves or similar when swapping the lens, as fingerprints can be hard to remove cleanly.
You might be able to just buy the TIR yourself for a few bucks too btw., but I don’t know whoch model it os exactly. I’m sure someone else here knows.

Personally I would just leave it, unless the beam looks weird.

What you see at the edge is absolutely normal and a result of the injection molding. Most TIR optics have something similar. It does not affect the beam.

The thing in the middle is an interference pattern caused by a thin, uneven layer of air or oil between the protective glass lens and the TIR option. This is also completely normal.

tl;dr This is perfectly fine and it won’t affect the beam in any way.
