I bought this because its the same kind I had as a kid, only $3. It's bright but doesn't compare to my LEDs. I'm curious if there's a debate on aesthetics vs function or if it's all about the lumens for most people?

I feel like there’s certainly an aesthetic aspect to choosing a flashlight. There are certain models and/or brands whose design choices simply don’t appeal to me personally so whatever interest there might have been in the technical aspects definitely takes a hit. Nostalgia also comes into play and might even have a subconscious effect on my preferences for modern light designs.
Definitely an interesting topic as everyone here has widely varying personal tastes for style and function.
