I went to Batteries Plus with my Streamlight Key-Mate (in working condition, just dim with low batteries), got new ones, put the new ones in, and it no longer worked! We put the old ones back in to test and it still didnt turn on. Its like the bulb died but it was absolutely still working when i walked in the store. Did my flashlight somehow experience sudden death or did something happen between battery changes?

Notable (?) details
– twist on / off ability is fine
– the old batteries were starting to bulge
– I left the light at the counter for some minutes as the worker set me up with the correct batteries and I looked at some other stuff in the store
– old batteries were L1154, new are LR44
– did not drop it or notice any parts fall out in the store. Nothing spotted while looking either. Spring is still in place

I'm worried some part fell out or something was damaged during that process. Maybe someone familiar with the light can say if something looks off? I spent more on the set of new batteries than a new flashlight is worth bc im sentimental about it so this bummed me out 😆

Are the threads/contacts clean? Sometimes it’s just bad electrical contact – maybe try cleaning with some isopropyl alcohol or something?

The only thing I can think of is to make sure you put the batteries in oriented in the right direction?

Update: The feelings I had when my mom would find my lost things in places I swear I looked all just came flooding back 💀 The solution is in battery placement.

In the store (right there with the Batteries Plus Proffessional, mind you), I swear we tried flipping the batteries with no avail. Seems this flashlight runs on vibes at this point. Glad to have my buddy back. Thank for the help!

Current and proper placement for reference
